A brief hint/tip.

It may seem obvious but first of all, switch everything (PC, monitor, printer, scanner, router, etc etc) OFF at the mains connection for at least 5 minutes.

As an example: this is especially true for printer problems as the printers internal buffer (memory) can hold corrupt data for as long as mains power is present, even if the power light is not on. Both the PC and the printer have a print buffer, therefore both should be switched off completely.
In addition, both should be turned off at the same time because USB devices receive a 5 volt supply via the USB connection from the PC, 5v @ upto 500mA. This can in some cases leak through enough power to keep the print buffer active even when the printer is turned off.
And not a lot of people know that :)

As you can see, it is not in our interests to charge for several hours work and most repairs can infact be completed within 1 hour.

If your PC or laptop has been repaired elsewhere and had the OS (windows) reinstalled....

Should it now fail the Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) check you may have an illegal copy of the Windows software, if registration via the official Microsoft activation phone line fails you should report the offending business/company to trading standards.
